Comparison Performance nVidia RTX 3090 / 3080 / 3070
Finally we can test the nVidia RTX 3000 series.
nVidia has promised something big! In early September 2020, nVidia announced the 3000 series of new graphics cards. It is supposed to be 30-50% more performance from the 2000 to the 3000 series. Big words, I thought. Because usually a performance jump of about 12-15% from generation to generation is possible and realistic.
When the sales launch of the RTX 3080 was mentioned two weeks later, i.e. on Thursday 17.09.2020, my anticipation increased. The sales launch of the top model, the RTX 3090, is also supposed to take place one week later, i.e. on 24.09.2020. My anticipation rose even further! There is also supposed to be an RTX 3070 available on 10/28/2020.
Well, what came next is known to all. The order volume was huge and the production of the RTX 3000 series was affected by the Corona Pandemic and other various influences. This means that the graphics cards are still very poorly available today and only come to the stores and thus to the customers drop by drop. Fortunately, such a droplet jumped to our supplier and we were able to get our hands on an RTX 3090 at the end of October. It was the RTX 3090 O24G Strix model from ASUS. We were also joined by an RTX 3080. The RTX 3080 O10G Strix also from ASUS. In addition, the TUF RTX 3070 O8G Gaming also from ASUS came to us surprisingly quickly, about 2 days after the sales launch.
